What is bookin’?
Scrapbooking
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Scrapbooking is a method for preserving a legacy of written history in the form of photographs, printed media, and memorabilia contained in decorated albums, or scrapbooks. The idea of keeping printed materials of personal interest probably dates to shortly after the invention of printing. Similarly for photographs. Historically, scrapbooking was a tradition similar to storytelling, but with a visual and tactile, rather than oral, focus.

My husband coined the word (at least in our house) “Bookin” as in.. “are you going bookin’ today?” He was asking me if I was taking my 3 cases and rolling tote somewhere to scrapbook. All my supplies are portable. I don’t have a set area in our house where I scrapbook.. mostly I do it once a month at a “craft night” I attend. I lug all my papers, eyelets, brads, stickers, scissors, pens, oh yeah, and pictures… with me and spend up to 4 hours gluing things to a page all pretty like and slipping them into clear plastic page protectors into an overly large photo album type book. Makes you want to start, doesn’t it?! LOL
But really.. I was doing a form a scrapbooking even when I was a kid. I had those awful “magnetic” (sticky page) photo albums and I would cut the pictures out and add captions. Just now they have all this cool paper and such to do it with! You can even scrapbook digitally now.. I’ve tried my hand at it with programs I have.. but have never actually purchased a digital kit, so haven’t really don’t much.. I prefer the hands on stuff.
